Back to school! I’m sorry to admit that after the first day back, I already want to be on vacation again. Winter break was disillusioning, it length lulled me into a false sense of security with my days of nothingness and as soon as I finally figured out how to sleep later than my 8am-school-induced-natrual-alarm-system would let me, it was over! And now I’ve restarted the vicious cycle of staying up too late, getting up too early, and relying on soda and coffee to get me though the day. That being said, my winter break was far from interesting so maybe things will get more exciting as this semester picks up.
When I was little I never watched tv, not necessarily because of my amusing childhood brain’s ability to entertain me without it, but probably because it wasn’t until I was 17 that we got more than 6 channels. Until then we only got 2 (CBS), 4 (NBC), 5 (FOX), 9 (it was UPN from what I remember), 11 (WB…it might not be anymore though) and 13 (PBS). So before I was about 12 and noticed that the tv at my friends houses had much more channels, the only thing I watched was kid shows on PBS. Maybe 7th Heaven sometimes, but mostly shows like Zoom, Magic School Bus, Arthur and Zaboomafoo. In between the two episodes of Arthur there was a section called “And Now a Word From Us Kids”. (I hope someone else remembers this, because I’d feel really lame if I’m the only one.) But anyway, the reason I bring it up is because before I go to write anything, a little voice in my head says “And now a word from us Liz!” I know, it’s grammatically incorrect, but I still think my inner Arthur-watching-child gets great happiness out of the slight puniness.
And Now a Word from this Liz:
I realized that I just jumped into talking (…umm…writing) without even introducing myself. Hi, I’m Liz Cohen. I am…I actually don’t know what year I am in school. I transfered to Queens College this year, so the Fall 2009 semester was my first semester here! But even though I should be in the middle of my sophomore year, the way my credits carried over, I think I’m just starting my sophomore year this semester. So I’m a semester behind my high school graduating class. I like reading a lot, it’s highly likely that a lot of what I write will be either based on or about what I’m reading at the moment. It really frustrates me when I don’t have the energy to read what I want to because my mind is so bogged down with school work and readings for school and studying.
Anyway, I don’t really have any plans for this blog. I actually entered on a whim and now that I have to write something, I don’t have many ideas. I’ll figure something out that hopefully won’t be outstandingly boring, though. I wish I had some awesome hobby to talk about, like if I were a professional sky diver, that would get me some stories to tell! Most of my stories end up being slight rants, which I guess can’t be too bad! So, again, welcome to my blog (which still has yet to be named) and happy first week back at school everyone.
