About

QC Voices is a collaborative publication featuring writers from Queens College, both undergraduate and graduate students.

Our writers are as varied as the people of Queens. We believe their voices represent the future of this country—and some of the best of what it has to offer: passion, compassion, curiosity, talent, and determination.

Our writers are selected from a competitive pool. They work with an editorial team of professional writers that includes a faculty mentor (Jason Tougaw) and two Fellows (Scott Cheshire and Stefano Morello). Our editorial process is professional, demanding, and convivial. We meet regularly for interactive writing workshops. We invite working writers to share their experiences. Each semester, we host a reading, QC Voices and Friends—an opportunity for the campus community to share work in progress.

Since 2010, QC Voices writers have published columns that range from the journalistic to the lyric–on topics ranging from sexual politics, music, immigrant experience, Afrocentricity, nerd culture, the food in Queens, and student activism.
