I’ve always wondered, since Fall 05 I’ve wondered which semester is longer?
Is it the Spring or the Fall?
There is no way to find out for sure, but to me it seems like Fall is longer than Spring. At least that’s how it feels here at Queens College. It feels like Fall is longer than Spring, but I know that it shouldn’t be. Since almost all courses that are offered during Fall is also offered during Spring, therefore they should be about the same, but why is it that Spring tends to be over much faster?
We start the Fall term in late August, the 27th or the 28th so we have the entire months of September, October, and November, minus a little 2 day break in November for Thanksgiving Day, and half of December. That adds up to 3 months and a half.
In the Spring semester, we start in late January like we started on the 28th this Spring semester. We have the entire February, which is ONLY 28 days, then there is March. We have a week-long Spring break some years in March and some years in April. Then there’s April and finally half of May. That adds up to 3 months and just one week. Don’t hold me to my calculations I may be wrong, and not taking in consideration all of off days during the Fall term, but to me it really seems that the Spring term just flies and it is over, but the Fall semester is long and it never ends.
What do you think? Is it just me, or do you feel the same?
I personally love the Spring semester better, since I’m impatiently waiting for the arrival of Spring, and ultimately the Summer. Fall is usually more depressing and blue for me, and I guess it’s because I get used to Summer days, and it takes a while to get used to the school life and studying non-stop.
Whichever it is, I know that I love my school life, and it is just full of awesome experiences. So I enjoy everyday of my life as an under grad. since I’ll soon have to say good bye.
