What a Tiring Week

Before the week got rough, a couple of residents and I got together and ate dinner on the 28th of February. One resident brought spaghetti with sausage and the other resident brought instant noodles. I made vegetables with oyster sauce, soy sauce marinated thin beef cuts, and I also made peanut butter jelly muffins. It was my second time baking and it came out well, although the jelly in the middle of the muffin spilled out all over the muffin pan and oven. I wish everyone can have a taste right after it came out because it was really warm and delicious. It had a blend of peanut butter covering and jelly gush in the middle of the muffin.

Chinese Student Association (CSA) and Chinese Christian Fellowship (CCF) hosted a small Chinese New Year gathering on March 3rd. Lots of students around campus got together to sing some songs and receive free lunch. Most of the songs were in Chinese to celebrate the Asian culture.

I received my first test of the semester. It was in Accounting (Acct) 305 which is managerial accounting. I thought the test was going to be a little easier because my professor always emphasized that you don’t need to remember anything. You just have to know it. I guess he was just being a little contradicting. I also had an advanced Accounting quiz the morning before the test. Now to think of it, Thursday was really rough for me. After Acct 305 test, I had a 3 hour course and then I had a RA meeting. Well, I am glad I survived!

Friday the 5th of March was the second part of the RA group selection process. A couple of the RA was there to evaluate how potential RAs will work in a group setting. It was a 3 part group process. The first part, the candidates had to line up by birthdates without speaking to each other. The second part, the candidates were given a sheet listed with potential RAs and they had to decide if they should be RAs from the background history that was given. What irony! The potential RAs were deciding for other potential RAs. The third part was that two groups were given a random bag of goodies and had to make a week full of programs from the items in the bag.

I had a bowling program afterwards. It did not turn out well because there were no residents willing to go. But a resident wanted to go bike riding and that was what we did. We first went to check out an organic food store around Queens College. It is called Health Emporium and it is no ordinary organic store. It was two floors high and it had a mini fast food restaurant within the store. It also had tables for customers to sit and eat. There was also a large variety of lactose free items and food products without animal byproducts. After we went to Health Emporium, we rode our bikes to Flushing Meadow Park and visited the Globe, Mets Stadium, and the lake behind Mets Stadium.
