My version of the “Spring Break”

It’s 10 AM.

School is closed. It’s the 4th day of the spring break. Queens College is closed.

The campus is quiet. The parking lot is empty.

Once in every 5 minute you see a person walking on the Quad.

No one is here. It suddenly doesn’t feel like Queens College anymore. It feels like a school in a remote part of the country.

Where is everybody? Where did they all go? All those 18 – 20 thousands students – where are they?

I’m walking toward the library, carrying my book bag, with my Accounting textbook, notebook, calculator, laptop, a lot of scrap papers, pen and pencils in it.

I’m thinking why I’m here. Why am I not down in Florida at a beach? Or in Hawaii? At least why am I not at home sleeping? Isn’t 10 AM to early to be up during the spring break?

BUT I’m already HERE. I am taking firm steps toward the library. My friend is already on the second floor of the library waiting for me. We had plans to study for our accounting midterm which is going to be on the 7th of April. We have no time to waste. It was either this, or getting a horrible grade on that midterm, which could result in failing the class. I know already many of my classmates will FAIL that exam, because they are under appreciating the difficulty of that midterm exam.

The library is only open from 9 – 5 during the break. The reading room opens one hour earlier, at 8, and closes at 5. So since Monday, my friend and I have been meeting on the second floor of the library at 10 AM and simply studies till the closing time.

Afterwards I go to the gym, work out for about an hour, then of course I do a little bit of swimming at Queens College’s awesome swimming pool. By the time I’m done swimming, and by the time I get home it’s around 10 PM.

When I get home, I’m just dead, and have no energy left for anything else, but a shower, a light dinner, and sleep.

That’s pretty much my version of the “Spring Break.”

I’m enjoying mine, I hope you’re too!
