I would say that it was a great end to a great year for the fall 2009 to spring 2010. I will always remember this year as the Legend Year, the year when the Summit first opened and the dorms were created. For all those that were following my blog, I am sorry for the lateness of my conclusion to the end of this year, but there was so much to be done before I can finally “wrap up.”
As you all know, I didn’t win for student government president. But I did receive about 104 votes and loved the experience of running. A video was made of all the presidential candidates for 2010 and was uploaded to Facebook. After the elections were over, I went back to concentrating on what was most important, my grades! Wrapping up for the spring semester 2010 meant that I had to finish my finals, help “close” the dorms, move out of the dorms myself, attend graduation, write my last blog for spring 2010, and hopefully start a new beginning.
My last duty day was May 11th, but that didn’t mean that I was done working for the RA position. Each of the RAs had to do at least 32 hours of move-out during finals week. This consists of sitting in the Summit office and waiting for a resident to finish cleaning up there room so that we can do our inspections and answer questions that they have. On top of that, I had to study for finals and meet up with someone that was flying in to visit. The RA position was a like a full time job!
Commencement was on the 27th of May and I was only able to stay for 2 hours before I had to go on an interview. To start a new beginning for the fall semester 2010, I must look for another internship or part time job related to my field of Accountancy/ Economics. Then I came back around 7pm to have our RA dinner which was our wrap up for the Summit.
My best wrap up of this semester was the event that I began this semester with. I went back to Woodbury the 28th to hopefully receive a huge discount for the Memorial Day weekend. The best purchase for me that day was 2 pairs of pants and a pair of flip flops for $40!
The next day, I moved out. I couldn’t believe how much junk I had. It took about 2 hours to load the cars and it took about a week and a half to unpack and organize all my things. During that week my session 1 course started and it is Auditing I, which is not easy. My cousin also asked me to sell all his sneakers which he has about 40 pairs.
Hope all of you well.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Wong
I have always wanted to make a fashion post and how you can save money. You can always ask me if you need any help but I will show you what I purchased online or at a thrift shop at a huge discount. The clothes I’ve purchased are usually used but I believe in the 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, the same slogan as our recycling program. It can help cut down on the world’s waste and won’t hurt my pocket either. I will give you an example with the following picture.
Banana Republic Fedora Hat- $20(eBay)
Pink Ralph Lauren Polo Shirt- $12 (eBay)
Vintage Military Pea coat- $50 (eBay)
H&M pants- $40 (from store)
J Shoes- $20 (eBay)
Messenger Bag- $3 (thrift store)
Total: $145
Savings and picture- Priceless
