Hello World,
“Allow myself to introduce…myself” (yes I am quoting Austin Powers, how eloquent of me don’t you think?).
My name is Barbara and I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one. I am also known by my Polish nickname Basia, or Varvara (a name that I have been hearing a lot lately thanks to my recent introduction to the Greek community and culture). My life has, and continues to be a series of very distinct chapters each of which contain a collage of random events. I semi- recently transferred to Queens College and currently am juggling school, work and an internship. I have one day off, clearly don’t know how to relax and I’d really love to add another responsibility to my life, (hence the blog).
Half-joking aside, I am 100% Polish (yes I know, but just give my blog a chance). I come from an impoverished neighborhood in East New York where I was raised solely by the care of my mother, I’ve played tennis for about 14 years, piano for about 10, and have traveled to Germany, Spain, Holland and Japan with a youth choir. I am a vegetarian who speaks English, Polish, Spanish and will be taking on Greek in the Spring semester (as a result of my Greek boyfriend, yes very “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” of me). I intern for a Doctor, and work as an airbrush artist so the things I see and hear are vast and I promise I will be selective about the ones I share. I could probably write a blog a day about the things that happen to me throughout every single one of them and my entries here will be a sequence of carefully selected and uniquely interesting stories. My writing is sharp, unapologetic, controversial at times, and often witty . I enjoy sharing my stories and random thoughts on paper, (or in this case on the web) and I really hope that you all will enjoy reading them.
