Apologies to Muslim and/or Ditch your Laptop

I was eating my morning cereal and reading the New York Times when I came across the Op-Ed Column and saw the article Message to Muslims: I’m Sorry. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the mosque being built around Ground Zero and this article relates to the bigotry against Muslims. I was inspired to write a blog entry because Nicholas D. Kristof risked his position and wrote a column apologizing to the Muslims. What caught my attention was how Kristof related our prejudice towards Muslim to the prejudice we have had for Catholics, Mormons, Jews and Asian- Americans. We can’t categorize a certain group of people as violent because we are all human and have similar traits. There are always going to be good and bad in every group.

Ditch Your Laptop, Dump your Boyfriend? I know most of you might think that this is too farfetched but this was another article I read in the OP-ED section that caught my attention. I know that some of you might say that ditching my laptop is fine but dumping my boyfriend, now that is going too far. Well, this article was complied of previous undergraduates who did just that. As Novikoff states, “College is your Chance to see what you’ve been missing, both in the outside world and within yourself. Use this time to explore as much as you can.” I agree 100% because that is what LASAR are for, to find what is your interest is and to become a well rounded student.  Although you might feel afraid about taking that math course or that philosophy course, go into that course with an open mind. A semester away from graduating, I am taking my first Philosophy course and I am glad that I am exploring a new field.
