A Weekend in Queens

As a New Jersey resident, I would have been paying out-of-state tuition for Queens College had I decided to live at home. However, I ended up getting an apartment here with two friends and now have a New York mailing address–which will grant me reduced, in-state tuition for the future. I’m sure my parents are happier about that part than I am, though it’s definitely a plus. But really, I love the luxury of having an apartment close by. It’s not too far from school, but far enough so that I could have somewhere to live that is quieter and more relaxed than a dorm. Living in the apartment has been great so far. However, because of all the Jewish holidays in September, I’ve been home a lot with my family.

But this weekend, I am staying in my apartment in Queens for the first time. And I am definitely looking forward. The Queens Hillel is having a shabbat dinner tonight, and I can’t even guess what it’s going to be like. I only know a few of the probably tons of people who are going to be there, so it should be a very good night. I will be eating lunch with/by some friends who have an apartment only three buildings up the block from mine and am looking forward to that as well.

Hope everyone has a great weekend as well!
