Yesterday I received the email that the school sent out about the robbery that happened outside of Kiely on Monday. I was shocked that a student was robbed by knifepoint on school grounds, and it only really made me feel stronger about the security (or lack thereof) on campus.
I kind of hate how easy it is to get on campus. Anyone can, quite literally, walk right in. I know there is security around but I don’t think it’s very safe for anyone who just looks like a student or professor to enter so easily. The guy that robbed the student was described as being around 20 years of age, and who wouldn’t mistake that for a student?
I know there isn’t a lot of crime on campus, but I still think that you can never be too careful. I feel like QC should develop some kind of system that makes it harder for non-students to enter, like having to show ID or something?
I usually feel very safe on campus but now I feel like I have to be more alert because of how easy it is for anyone to come on campus.
I just wanted to rant a teeny bit about that, because I feel like security is super important in any school. I’m not saying to put up electric fences or something (which was almost the case in my high school), but the fact that anyone can get here irks me.
