Peace Corps and Mission trips are such novel ideas; but in practice they are usually for the pretentious, upper-crust individuals who have never had any true hardship in their own personal life. I do know that the areas that these groups visit are in need of much help. Go help those people; quit filling your ego with self-importance by holding yourself in a higher status than others because you’re such a “good helper.” I can pinpoint these ego-maniacs by the way they talk. Someone who truly wants to help has many more questions than claims. Questioners are looking for solutions and are truly focused on helping. Claimers are justifying themselves through what they think others will perceive of them if they embark on such a noble cause. Dear claimers, I don’t care that you are insecure about your place in life and am extremely annoyed by your self-righteousness, narcissism, and arrogance. Dear questioners, I admire that you are at a point in your life where your needs are taken care of and with your life you choose to help less fortunate. I’m sure you are aware that there are just as many less fortunate in America as well who could use help, guidance, and spiritual uplifting and many of them live in the same region as you or even on the same street. You probably do what you can to help them since it is in your good nature which is also admirable. Furthermore, thank you for not judging me for what I have chosen to do with MY LIFE and sharing with me the thoughts that your mind is focused on; I’m always down for a good conversation about truthful giving.
