February, Already

It’s still hard for me to believe that January 2011 has come and gone and February is here already.  The last time I checked, it was 2010, and then I  blinked…& here I am deep into February!  Time went by really fast this time…as it always does when you don’t want it to pass you by.

Going back to December, over Christmas break (from Friday to Sunday), my mom, dad, brother  and I went up to Toronto, Canada for a convention.  We left for Canada by air, and before I boarded, I almost had a nervousness attack.  I hadn’t been up in the air in more than 7 years.  I didn’t know if I could make it in one piece.  To my surprise, the plane was tiny, and it only took us 1 hour and 1 minute to land in Ontario.  I was so glad to arrive safely and soundly!

Our flight back home was to be around 7:00 a.m. on that Monday.  BUT…New York and most of the northeast was buried in snow, so our flight was canceled…until further notice.  The earliest flight back we could get was supposedly Thursday…but we couldn’t wait that long!! We were staying in a hotel, and I don’t think there was a chance for us to stay sane if we were to live in the hotel for 3 more days…they charge you $6…six dollars…for a bottle of water…and the bottle isn’t even big, it’s regular size!!  The food was even more expensive!  It was impossible for us to stay even for one more day…

So, after my brother had made many painstaking phone calls, the four of us were finally able to get seats in a Greyhound bus.  Through land we were able to leave Canada and entered the U.S., in the end finally arriving in NYC.  We were in the bus for over 12 hours… twelve hours!! (but at least there were some small breaks in between).  Throughout the journey, I saw so many things.  We passed Niagara, Syracuse, parts of upstate New York, and New Jersey, and so many other places.  I watched the roads when the sun was bright and shining (even though it was freezing cold), and I watched on as the sun slowly went down, and then soon after when everything was pitch black.

When we finally arrived in Manhattan, we were so tired (12+ hours of being on the road).  We saw some yellow cabs, but none of the drivers wanted to drive us to Queens because of the amount of snow on the ground.  So we took the subway.  And we walked a couple of blocks up to our house.  At one point, my legs were nearly stuck in the snow for a while; my dad had to help me to get me out.  But finally, at last, we arrived.  I was finally happy to be home!

My January was spent doing nothing but sleeping and going on a Netflix marathon.  I also learned how to cook some little items (such as pasta).  Other than that, I don’t think I did much of anything.

And now, classes have started again.  It’s finally the Spring ’11 semester, and I have registered for a couple of classes.  This semester, I have classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

And…I’m still searching for a part-time job (with no luck). =[
