So, here it is. Another Spring, another Valentine’s Day. February 14th. I was curious, so I looked up the brief history of Valentine’s Day. As some of you may already know, Valentine was a Saint from the 3rd century A.D. He was murdered on this very day, 2/14, because he supported Christian marriage. In those times, supporting Christianity basically meant that you failed at worshiping the emperor. Though very little is known about Saint Valentine, he is said to be buried somewhere outside Rome. The date became a holiday in the late 1300′s as a special day to celebrate our loved ones.
Here’s a collection of the different images I found: ( Don’t we love Google images…. )
Apparently, to some, Valentine’s means a heart on their forehead and a pair of duck lips.
To all the quirky people out there (like me) this is more of their kind of Valentine.
Or, watch out, AMERICA.
Better learn to share the love, share the food.
How much?
This is what it really boils down to.
I’m actually not as cynical about Valentine’s Day as I just seemed (above)- you’ll be able to tell when I post a picture of how I look today. I find it a cute holiday- but I must mention that what the last picture says is quite accurate. Just don’t eat too much chocolate, enjoy the day, and love your loved ones. Just like any other day.
Finally, just a small little umph for the semester:
Let there be blood.
