Farmer’s Market, Rainbow, and Ikea

I was with my boyfriend yesterday, and we decided to go to the farmer’s market in Downtown Brooklyn, Fulton Mall, and Ikea.

I strongly suggest people to shop at farmer’s markets, because the fruits and greens does not get any fresher then that. Granted your grocery shopping is gonna cost a few more dollars, but from all those savings from clothes, it shouldn’t be too bad to shell out. Plus, you should never be to stingy with your health. Being a college student on a tight budget, I learned that lesson the hard way. The little farmer’s booths had food samples, and I must say, the yellow peaches were the best I’ve ever had.

At this store called Rainbow, I noticed that there were the same few shirts I bought online at Wet Seal on clearance. The same clothing at Rainbow that was also on clearance was sold for much higher price (approx. $3-$5 more per garment). It’s nice to confirm that I got the best bargain out there. [On my next post, I’ll show why online stores may be better than the physical store.]

At Ikea, my boyfriend and I pretending the whole showcase area was our house. (We weren’t the only couple who was doing that). I noticed that there was a few electronic kiosks that distributed these membership cards called “Ikea Family.” All I had to enter in is my email address, my name, my birthday, and sex. I got a receipt for creating an “Ikea Family” card, which included a voucher for a free ice cream cone for joining (free dessert for us)! Also, by just being a member, you get free coffee or tea every time you come to Ikea.

When I got home, I went online to check on the savings by becoming a member. I think the best way to effectively take advantage of this card was if you were to remodel a room, because each retail price of selective items were discounted ranging from $1-$30+ and that’s a pretty good steal for furniture.
