These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

So I’m sure you’re all wondering, what does Jumbo Shrimp like?  In fact I’m sure it keeps you up at night.  So here are a couple of things I’d like to recommend/share with all of you.

First up is good reads.  Since getting my nook in July (best birthday present ever!) I’ve been totally absorbed in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series.  Some of you may have seen HBO’s television adaptation of the first book, [A] Game of Thrones.  While the shows were awesome, the books are even better.  However, it’s definitely an investment of time [the first four came in a bundle pack of ~3400 pages] .  Still, I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys the fantasy genre.

Next, drinks!  Specifically ones that make me feel all warm, happy, and fall-ish.  The Student Union Starbucks makes an awesome pumpkin spice latte.  It’s actually better than the one I get at the Starbucks on 31st street.  Also awesome [although I don’t think the campus one has it] is the salted caramel moca.  It may sound odd, but it’s awesome.  Sort of like a drink form of chocolate covered pretzels.

Finally, recipes.   I love to bake.  It’s my favorite way to release stress and I never hear any complaints from family and friends ;)   My newest favorite thing to make are pumpkin spice cookies.  It’s super simple.

What you need:

1 box of yellow cake mix

2 eggs

1/3 cup of vegetable oil

pumpkin spice (about a cap full– I got mine at Trader Joe’s)

steps:

1- preheat the oven to 375 degrees

2- combine the cake mix, eggs, and oil in a bowl. Mix

3- add the pumpkin spice, and mix again (it will be very thick and hard to mix, but you can do it!)

4-roll the dough into balls (make sure your hands are clean, please) and plop them onto a cookie sheet

5- bake for 1o-12 minutes

6- allow to cool, then remove, and eat!
