Youth.

It’s no brainer that ‘youth’ and ‘good health’ are considered to be the two universal qualities of attractions for procreation and vanity purposes. However, looking too youthful has one noticeable downside to me.

I just recently turned twenty years old, and being that I am not a “-teen” anymore, I was hoping to be treated as an young adult. I guess my physical features tell a different story.

Last Saturday, my boyfriend and I were BOTH carded for watching ‘Rum Diary’, a R-rated movie. The only reason I could find humor in this incident is the fact that my boyfriend is a year older than me and he still needs to be ID-ed. I’m aware that only one of us needed to show the cashier our IDs because if I was seventeen or younger, my boyfriend could pose as my adult guardian… right? I could not really understand why both of us were required to do so. The cashier lady had the snarliest attitude with us, which was in total contrast to her angelic behavior towards the older-looking couple in front of us.

This is not the first time that has happen to us from that theater either.

What did we do to receive such unjust treatment for enjoying mature entertainment?
