I really want to like Essie nail polishes. I’m trying so hard. I bought their winter minis from Macys which came with Cocktail Bling, Bobbing for Baubles, and Size Matters.

I was disappointed in how Cocktail Bling wound up looking like more of a lavender/periwinkle than gray*. I was hoping for more of a snowy look, but instead it reminded me of Easter eggs. It’s still nice though, but I’ll probably save it for the springtime.

Bobbing for Baubles comes out matte and actually reminds me of the uniforms the confederates wore during the civil war. My biggest problem with Essie is that most of their colors [especially the dark ones] are so matte. If I want a dark blue I’m going to have to go for OPI’s Russian Navy over this one. However, a friend had told me she was in search for a blueish-gray so I was able to recommend it to her.

Size Matters is a great bright red and definitely my favorite of the three. While I usually love a lot of pigmentation in a nail color, I think that this sort of red works as is.
