Private Karaoke Rooms – UNDER $10!

A few weeks ago a couple friends and I decided to hit the New York City nightlife, so we pulled up on the karaoking scene.  I have a unfathomable love for karaoke. Where else can you go to get locked into a room with a group of friends knowing that no one cares how terribly you sing or how comically you dance? Because when those Adele songs start rolling, you all end up getting emotional. When I tell others about my experiences and obsession with karaoke, I usually become disheartened at how many people have either never been karaoking, are afraid to go due to the cost, or are willing to drop $30 per hour for a private karaoke room. In this newest post I am determined to inform everyone how and where they can enjoy the thrilling and relaxing experiences of karaoke so – I went on a little scavenger hunt to find three inexpensive, high quality and fun karaoke rooms for under $10 an hour!!

1. KARAOKE SHOUT ( 32-46 Steinway St, Astoria, NY 11103)

If you can get through the sweaty, drunk screams in the front, you’re in for a real treat. For $4 per hour, you can sing your heart out in any of Karaoke Shouts beautiful hipster style rooms. Our room was decorated with baby blue walls, color changing lights and fluffy cloud shaped decorations. What makes this karaoke spot different from the others listed here is, if you do not want to pay for a room, you are welcome to sing at the open karaoke bar. One warning – there are mic hoggers: to the dude singing along to Miley’s “I came in like a wrecking ball,” you sir, most certainly did.

Food: Allowed to bring outside food
Drinks: Not Allowed (Must purchase from bar – carries soda and non-alcoholic beverages)
Room Rates: $4/hour/person (before 8PM)
$8/hour/person (After 8PM)

2. KARAOKE DUET 35 (53 W 35th St, New York, NY 10001)

Similar to Karaoke Shout, Karaoke Duet 35 is a per hour, per person karaoke joint, but Karaoke Duet offers a karaoke marathon package. For $14 you are allowed to sing for as long as you please. I mean, its great until your friends decide to sing for 5 hours straight, with a short burrito break. However, I highly recommend this option as it is very relaxing to know that you are not on a set time schedule, it allows you the leisure of singing until your throat hurts.

Food: Allowed to bring outside food.
Drinks: Not Allowed (Must purchase from bar – carries soda and non alcoholic beverages)
Room Rates: Mon-Thur: $4/person/hour (daytime) $6/person/hour (nighttime)
Fri&Sat: $5/person/hour(daytime) $8/person/hour(nighttime)
Fri-Sat (Karaoke Marathon – sing from open until 8PM) $14/person

3. The Real KTV (136-20 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing, NY 11354)

Real KTV is a Chinese Karaoke spot, and it is the cheapest and most decorative of the three karaoke bars. Real KTV offers a range of English songs, but I do recommend bringing someone who speaks Mandarin if you decide to go. My friend was able to translate for us, which helped since much of the music and materials are in Mandarin. What makes Real KTV amazing is that they  have rooms that can fit 2 to 35 people, though of course the bigger rooms will be charged a higher rate. The smallest room is only $10/hour (not per person), which is an amazing deal!

  1. The only thing private karaoke rooms are good for is as a cheap and easy love motel – dimly lit rooms rented by the hour with on demand drink services, easy to clean surfaces, pillows, and long cushy horizontal planes on which deeds can be done.

  2. Нi, І do believe this is ɑ great website. I stumbledupon it 😉 I may
