I’m T-9 days away from recording my pre-screening CD. For those of you who don’t know, a prescreening CD is basically like a pre-audition CD…the schools want to hear you before they decide if they REALLY want to hear you. For those of you interested in the music I sing, the songs on my CD are:
“L’abbandono” (Vincenzo Bellini)
“Helft mir ihr Schwestern” from Frauenliebe und leben (Robert Schumann)
“D’une prison” (Reynaldo Hahn)
“The Crucifixion” from The Hermit Songs (Samuel Barber)
“Father of Heaven” from Judas Maccabaeaus (G.F. Handel)
“Verdi Prati” from Alcina (G.F. Handel)
“C’est l’amour vainquer” from Les Contes d’Hoffman (Jacques Offenbach)
“Smanie implacabili” from Cosi fan tutte (W.A. Mozart)
All of those can be found, recorded by notable singers, recorded on youtube.
On a side note, if any of you ever have to take atonal theory (that is, theory based on music that lacks one central key. This theory is often numerically based), don’t ever do your atonal theory hw and math hw simultaneously. You’ll seriously end up crying. Seriously.
If anyone is in and around the music building tomorrow, Monday 10/24, The Classical Singers’ Career Development Club (of which I am the Vice President), will be having a bake sale directly in front of LeFrak Hall. Please come by and support our effort to put on a production of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte in March.
Always,
Nicholle B.
