It’s the start of another week of classes. I’ve got so much going on, I don’t even know where to begin. Midterms and papers are floating all around. I have two papers and a midterm this Wednesday, which is in two days! So I should be hitting the library. But before I get busy with the studying, I think I’ll do a post. But I think in this post, I won’t dwell too much on my academic life. I think I’ll do a bit of…home life.
Well, what happened a week was…I had to give up my credit card to my parents. I was never a big-time spender, and I always try to spend money wisely, because everything that I have, it’s given to me by the earnings of my hard-working parents.
But but, I guess I got a bit carried away. Ever since I came back from the hospital, I got this sudden urge to change my bedding. Well, I’ve been using the same comforter since middle school. All these years I have been using the comforter from Hilary Duff’s line. (Yes, I admit, I was a huge Lizzie McGuire fan when I was younger). But now I had over-outgrown the whole “uber-girlie-ish” phase.
So, one evening after school, I took myself to Bed Bath and Beyond. There I spotted a Steve Madden bed-in-a-bag collection, and decided to purchase it, with the credit card that my dad gave me. (My dad actually gave me the credit card for good purposes. First, it would build my credit score. Second, in case of emergencies where I had no hold of cash with me. He’s a really caring father. Sorry, daddy).
This is how it looked like:
It looks pretty, but, the fabric wasn’t so comfortable. So, I ended up returning it.
Then, I searched online and stumbled upon a bedding store. There, I found a bedding set that looked subtle and nice. So, I ordered it…with the credit card…again. This is how it looked:
To me, the bedding looked wonderful in this picture. But in real life…that’s another story. When I opened FedEx box, the bedding set looked absolutely horrid. It looked like someone had washed the fabric a hundred times before having it delivered to my front door. It just looked old and worn out. So, I ended up returning it.
But, this time I had to go through the trouble of re-sealing the box, providing the return info on top of the box, carrying the heavy box to the car and requesting/bothering my brother to take me to the Post Office, arriving at the Post Office and carrying the heavy box with me, and paying a shipping and processing fee of approximately $15 (it’s that much because the box weighed a lot). And now, I’ll have to wait for receiving the refund statement so that I know that the company is not ripping me off. Whew.
I really let my parents down this time. But I told them that I won’t make these kinds of stupid spending mistakes again. And I meant it. At least the good thing out of this situation is that I learned from it. And, I guess I needed a detox from the magical card that can help you buy things.
Oh, before I conclude this post, let me just say that after this whole ordeal of mine (haha, I know I’m being a bit dramatic), I actually went to Macy’s with my mom where we chose my bedding together. It’s a Tommy Hilfiger one, and I like it a lot, and I actually ended up keeping it. I’ll add a picture in the end (keep in mind that all 3 of these pics are not mine). Thank you, mom. I guess parent’s have the gift of making good decisions for their children. =]
