A Few Questions For Idrees

Welcome to my blog, which I have called “Are you Not Entertained?” While the title has no practical connection to the actual content, it is a spectacular quote from a spectacular film. I’ll leave you to do the googling. What I will be doing in this blog is interviewing and profiling Queens College students. I will be collecting their “stats,” and then asking them a series of more in depth questions. Some questions are lighthearted. Some are controversial. Barring foreseen events in my syllabi, I will add questions every week. Cheers!

This week, I sat down with Idrees Muhammad Ally.

That was the second most unexpected thing, other then Ned Stark dying.

Did you like it or was it going too far?

It was too much, it was like an entire army everyone was banking their hopes on just got destroyed.

Questions

What are two countries you wish you could go to:

“New Zealand”

– “Because of Lord of the Rings?”

“haha yep, and India, the northern part, in the Himalayas”

If you could be obscenely wealthy and powerful in any age, time, culture, or country etc…, which would it be? Roman noble?  kate in “titanic” rich? persian king? victorian lord? modern times? and why?

I would still choose modern day. There’s just so much more technology. And sure you could be rich back then, but you have no protection. You could be assassinated at any time.

All Holden in “The Catcher in the Rye” wants to do for a career stop kids from falling off a cliff. If you could have any job, assuming all salaries for every job are equal, what would you want to do? why?

I would say a developer of environmental technologies. Ever since I took AP environmental science, I’ve had an inclination towards that.

Android or IOS? What made you choose?

Android. It’s more customizable, it lets you be you more. Besides, Apple fell behind like two years ago.

Do you believe in God(s)? A sort of life force you couldn’t actually describe if your life depended on it?  what are your views on the statement “I believe in god but not organized religion”?

Well, I do believe in God. I’m a Muslim. They’re a lot of people who say It doesn’t matter what religion you or what you believe, as long as you’re a good person. My opinion is that there is one god, but I don’t have any hatred towards people who believe otherwise.

Who would you say are the top five best looking celebrities/models/actors?

“This a really tough question. Do I have to go in order?”

– “nope”

“ Ok, Willa Holland, from arrow, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, margaery from Game of Thrones (Natalie Dormer), man this is really hard… Evangeline Lilly

JRR Tolkien, author of the Lord of the Rings, wrote “Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.” Do you agree with capitol punishment? Hitler and the 9/11 terrorists included.

Wow. Controversial one. Personally, if it’s a huge crime like mass murder, I believe death should be your penalty. And not only mass murder, there are other crimes,

– “like, say, a guy murders his family?”

Maybe. If someone is mentally challenged though, then they definitely should not be given the death penalty.

Would you let a girl pay for you on a date / would you insist on paying for the date?

I would insist on paying, but only in the beginning. If you have been together for really long, and going out is something that you do often, then I would not insist.

Thanks for your time Idrees!
