Let’s talk about CUNY First. Does anyone not have trouble with this new system? It felt like a new system that was enacted in the middle of a semester since it was switched over before a whole year’s completion of school. It’s not only the students that are having trouble but also the professors. A professor of mine was squeamish over how he doesn’t know how to submit the grades for students in this new system. I also have a hard problem with CUNY First. It started out that day when I had made an account and it said I was done with registering with the system. I tried to log back in a few weeks later and it said that this account doesn’t exist. After I registered again through the big office at the end of the cafeteria in school, I had a hard time registering for my courses. Not only was it slow to upload, it was hard to navigate and the system constantly warns the viewer that I have loaded more than 50 classes, would I like to continue. Plus I didn’t mind the old system; I actually liked how I can view all classes in every subject and choose classes that are enjoyable, outside my curriculum, and to view what else is offered in QC. Granted, the old system needed some tweaks here and there but the new system needs a whole new layout. It doesn’t offer students to navigate outside the desired subject; you must click on each individual subject and then you can look through those courses only. Why doesn’t it give a full page of classes for that course so students don’t have to fumble through more clicks? With the slow upload speed, it aggravates the student even more.
12/6/10- I went back to the gym after a long time. It felt so good to relieve some stress out by pumping some iron. I’ve still been exercising at home but I don’t have a chest machine so that must be done at the gym. I also try to use have different forms of exercise such as fix things around the house, jog, and bike ride. This allows me to use my body and hopefully I finish a chore or task.
I received my new skin for my phone. I had an idea after I saw the art gallery in Klapper hall showcasing Marlene Tseng Yu art. I used some art as my skin for my phone and then I placed a clear plastic cover on top so that it protects the sticker. I also placed a quote on the side of the skin.
12/7/10- I saw the coolest old gentleman today. He was pushing a scooter with one of his legs up the Kissena blvd. hill that heads to QC. It was cool in so many ways, especially since he could just walk the scooter up the hill but he took the time to ride it. I had dinner with my cousins that night and I caught up with my uncle who comes back from Florida. He only comes back after every 6 months since he has a restaurant down in Florida. I had delicious Cantonese styled dinner.
The weekend was especially fun, I went furniture shopping and checked out the new gallery in Klapper hall. The new gallery was called Windows and Mirrors which depicts artist’s depiction of the War in Afghanistan.
