Vacation was not nearly long enough. I got some things that I wanted. I’m working. I rewarded myself with a cute yoga mat so I don’t have to use the smelly ones at the gym. I ended last semester decently but I’m also exhausted and sort of apprehensive about this last one.
See, I sort of bit off a a little more than I could chew last semester. I took five classes, three of which were senior seminars. While they were wonderful and while I loved the material, I really struggled to get all my papers done. One of my professors was kind and generous enough to grant me an extension on one. I’m really in love with the topic but I’m learning that passion or knack or inclination aren’t enough. When it comes to planning, deadlines, appointments… logistics and all that, I don’t like to think about it and whatever I can to not have to. It’s really a terrible habit I need to work out.
Further proof, I’m taking my lab and math requirements this final semester because I’d sort of put them off for more interesting classes. It’s gonna be a tough semester but I suppose my schedule and ability to work within it can serve as a tests and opportunities.
The weather’s so deceptive but I’m buying it. Yesterday, I woke up, saw that it was sunny outside and, while I was stressed, terrified I’d get to work late, and panicked about all my homework, I was so thrilled. I don’t know how to describe it but the moment was pretty strong. I have the attic room with lots of windows so on the sunny days like yesterday I’m flooded by that great light. I woke up and felt so ready to be productive. Then I stepped outside and got pummeled by the wind.
Still, I’ve got a few solid things to look forward to this semester and beyond: warmer and sunnier days, interesting topics to write about, reading Infinite Jest, watching other people’s Netflixes, visits from people I love, good dinners with good people, running outside again(and maybe getting rid of my holiday gut :/ ), getting my radio show/blog started, (CHEAP) travels, shows, plays, free caffeine, GRADUATION……. tbc
Meanwhile, please enjoy the song! I logged on and went straight to this page not realizing that I had left this blog with another song by this lovely artist.
