Variations on a theme by life

I’m currently writing an analysis midterm paper on Brahms’ Variations on a theme by Haydn:

I’ve come to realize that life is one big variation of you. The good you, the bad you, the angry you, the funny you. Life is just the frame through which your soul is portrayed. I’ve recently been promoted to be the music director at my church. I’m the youngest person to have the position there. When the last music director left, I was angry (to put it bluntly). I was upset that someone so close to me was leaving, and I was upset that all the responsibility was put on me. Rather than wallow in my anger, I took it upon myself to be the lifeline on which the life of the music program of the church relied. And I made sure every mass was 110% of musical perfection.

Now I’m the music director.

Life is the theme. I am the variation.

Always,
Nicholle B.
