Okay, this will be a belated thanksgiving post and a bit mushy so I guess girls only should read this list of the top ten things I’m thankful this year
-Being Alive
-My parents, who never give up on me and support me financially physically and emotionally
-My sisters, yeah, I’m sorry for all the craziness I’ve caused in your lives and although things have calmed down now I know it hurt you, and since I love you (all five of you) I’m thankful your still around and some of you still talk to me
-This blog which has helped me vent and publicize the disorder of depersonalization, and the people who run the blog at Queens College who have been really nice to me for no good reason
-The fact that I have goals, almost have my degree and plan on going to graduate school, I think it’s kind of cool
-The therapists and psychiatrists who’ve tried to help me (I’ll leave out the ones who just took my parents money)-Dr. Sorotzkin, Dr. Lamm, Dr. Applebaum, Dr Wikler, and my current psychiatrist who if you’re reading this blog Dr. Eagle I belive will help me get over this, and Dr. Samuels.
-dpselfhlep.com where I’ve met people who struggle with depersonalization disorder every second every day and the recovery tips posted their especially the holy grail of getting over dp!
-All the friends who’ve at least tried to be there for me, Yisroel, Yakove, Eli Meir, Shmuel, Dovid Gottlieb-you rock and will be awesome at whatever you do! The GRAY’S-the best family in the world with the best mom in the world (go Beth!!), The Hoffman’s who opened up their home to me and got me out of the psych ward and also have really really cute kids and the nicest parents in the world-Mat and Brochie, thank you and one day you’ll dance at my wedding (probably on opposite sides, no mixed dancing but still)
-The professor’s at Queens College who have helped me tremendously, Aaron Frundsdouch, Timothy Keogh, Fransesca Bergoli, Lisa Vaia, and the great Andrew Statum-take his class even if you’ve already taken English 110 or whatever he’s teaching, it’s worth it!!
-To God, for letting me survive until today and for finding me the right help when I needed it most, for giving me a test that will make me into a better man, and for all the good he’s done to my entire family.
